Industrial

Photo by Jo chosen by Nicolle. It made me giggle!

We went to an industrial area. It was photogenic and had interesting structures. It was quite run down but it was quite colourful.

This photo was chosen by Alexi. I like this photo because i like the contrast between the patterns and texture of the tree trunk and the leaves.

This photo was taken by Kornelija, and chosen by Jamie. I like this photo because there is a cloud across the middle of the photo with the sun breaking through the top and bottom of it.

Image

Photo by Kornelija. It has good shapes and I like how it draws your attention to the middle.

Photo by Alexi chosen by Nicolle. I like how the one purple flower stands out against the green.

Creating drama

We’ve been experimenting with using different colour settings and focal points in our cameras. The results can create drama! Here are some of the ones we like best.

Image

Photo by Jamie. I chose this photo because it has lots of the same vertical lines and a good focus that draws your eye into the photo.

Image

Photo by Alexi. I like this because it has good contrasting colours and the focus is in the corner.

Image

Photo by Kornelija. I like the line in the middle of the picture. I like how the focal point is closer and on a line.

Photo by Alexi. Sometimes accidents work really well!

Image

Photo  by Kornelija, chosen by Nicolle. I like this for the repetition of trees and then my legs. I like that my feet are high up in the photo, it looks like I’m squashing something with my feet or standing on something big, with the trees really small in the background.

Close up on Hyson Green

We’ve been photographing around the Hyson Green area. Here are some of our favourite photos so far. We were experimenting with the macro setting on the cameras to take close ups.

Photo by Alexi. I like this photo because it’s dramatic.

Image

Photo by Nicolle. This is my favourite photo because of its different textures.

Photo by Kornelija. This is my favourite photo because it’s a good angle and it tells a story.

Going analog

We were very kindly given an old analog camera to use for our project. We were interested in how different it was from a digital camera. It was very heavy and you could hear it working inside when you press the button and when you wind it on. It has lots of different lenses of different sizes. You have to focus it yourself by turning the lens. We weren’t sure if it still worked, but everything seemed right with it so we bought a film to test it. We used it on a tripod because it was so heavy it was hard to hold still!

It worked really well! Here are some of the results of our print photos.

The Blue Hour

Because we are always taking our photographs around Bulwell after school time, we catch the sky changing from daytime to nighttime. Photographers call this time of day The Blue Hour because the sky can look a really intense blue. Here are some of our favourite sky pictures.

Photo by Rachel. The sun going down between the houses.

Photo by Tamara. It looks like the moon is caught on the top of the twig!

Photo by Marnie. I love the way that the orange contrasts with the blue and really works well.

Textures and water

Here are some of our favourite photos from the last two weeks.

We walked by the River Leen and we took close up photos of textures.

Image

Photo by Rachel. I like the colour and the water, how it’s swaying and the duck in the background. I feel wicked about this picture!

Image

Photo by Tamara. I like this picture as it has an x, a dot and an H on it. I also enjoy looking at the colours and the lines. I felt happy when I took this photograph.

Image

Photo by Sammy. I like this photo because it is unusual (the shapes).

Image

Photo by Marnie. I really like the way the moon shines in the really effectful water as it runs down the path to Bulwell Bogs.

Image

Photo by Rachel. I like the colour. (The berries were pink) It was hard to take the photo because the wind was blowing and it was dark.

Image

Photo by Marnie. I really like the way the rock gets more narrow into the distance as it slowly fades and I really like the amazing way you get a dark background as it makes the light grey rock loudly stand out.
